She/her/hers

Oraya was born in Bangkok, Thailand. She immigrated to the United States when she was 11 years old with her family and grew up in Miami, FL. She’s currently a first year medical student at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. In May 2019, Oraya graduated with a degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Miami. There, she conducted extensive research on the physiology and inflammatory mechanisms of intervertebral discs (IVD), knees, and ankles and explored multiple therapeutic strategies for IVD degeneration including nanoparticles, electro-spun scaffolding, and conditioned media from periodontal stem cells. After graduation, she ventured into the industry side of medicine and joined the research and development team at Akron Biotechnology. At Akron, she designed and conducted experiments in order to develop protocols for the mass production of new cellular therapeutic products such as pooled plasma, fibronectin and DMSO-free cryopreservation media. During her free-time, she enjoys long distance running, cooking and baking Thai food and dessert, as well as trying out new recipes from different cuisines.
