Mehdi Elmouchtari is a medical student in the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine's class of 2021. He graduated with a Bachelor's in Biochemistry along with minors in Spanish and Anthropology from SUNY Geneseo in 2017. Mehdi plans to pursue a career in psychiatry, either within the field of addiction or child and adolescent psychiatry. His research interests are broad, share the overarching theme of exploring the neurological and molecular foundations of behavior, in order to inform future therapeutic modalities, including but not limited to neuromodulation, behavioral therapies, and targeted pharmaceutical therapy. He enjoys teaching, community outreach, and learning about people and cultures.
