Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine

Alexander "Alex" Zhang is currently a medical student at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM). Originally hailing from NYC, he studied Economics at Vanderbilt University while concurrently fulfilling the premedical requirements. After graduating, he spent a year working as a medical assistant in a dermatology clinic in MA and another year as an AmeriCorps volunteer in NYC working in public health. At VTC, he is in Dr. Zhi Sheng's lab researching ways to overcome drug resistance in cancers and is extensively involved with APAMSA and the Diagnostic/Interventional Radiology club. Outside from school, Alex enjoys learning about history, billiards, and eating (finances permitting).
