She/her/hers

Abiola Ogunsola, a native of Philadelphia, is currently completing her professional and graduate training in the MSTP at the University of Massachusetts. She is a proud graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where she earned her BS in microbiology. Prior to matriculating to UMMS in 2017, Abiola served as a research technician at Pitt where she investigated Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus biofilm formation in the lungs of Cystic Fibrosis patients. Abiola's research interests include host-pathogen interactions, and she has a strong desire to delve deep into the world of immunology and gain familiarity with the most recent bioinformatic tools. Her exact thesis project has yet to be chosen, but will surely contribute to the investigation of T cells in the vaccinated immune response to Mycobcterium tuberculosis infections. In her free time, Abiola enjoys baking, attending Zumba classes, and feeding blueberries to her beloved sun goddess (AKA bearded dragon), Dijon. She joined Project SHORT during the Summer of 2020 and is so very excited to continue mentoring aspiring physician-scientists of color.
