Thomas is a cognitive neuroscience PhD student at UCLA, where he studies language processing in the human brain and large language models. His primary research interest is in the relationship between syntax and semantics in language processing. He is also interested in how language relates to other cognitive domains, such as reasoning and conceptual knowledge. More broadly, he aims to apply theories of representation and neural computation to better understand how brain structures map onto specific aspects of cognition. Prior to graduate school, Thomas conducted research on auditory perception at Williams College, where he studied cognitive science and music.
