Emily is a 4 th year PhD candidate in the Neuroscience department at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). Emily received her BS in Psychology from Texas State University in 2018 followed by joining the NIH PREP Scholar program at The Ohio State University prior to joining the PhD program at CWRU. Currently, Emily is completing her PhD thesis in the lab of Wen-Cheng Xiong at CWRU. She is studying a glial cell in the brain called astrocytes and how their dysfunction contributes to Alzheimer’s Disease pathology. Emily is the first in her family to enter the world of academia, as she is the first in her family to pursue graduate school and watched her parent graduate college alongside her. Emily hopes to help other prospective students who are naïve to the world of academia navigate their pre-grad experience in the most effective way possible.
