She/her/hers

Elayne Zhou is a Clinical Psychology PhD student at the University of Southern California. Broadly, she is passionate about advancing mental health equity by addressing racial/ethnic disparities in mental health outcomes and access to care. She aims to accomplish these goals by understanding mental health trajectories and needs of racially minoritized youth from a multisystemic perspective. With that understanding, she hopes to develop, disseminate, and implement context-informed interventions in accessible settings for youth and families of color. The questions that drive her work are: How can we use a context-informed approach to understand maladaptive and adaptive development and disparities in mental health outcomes in racially minoritized youth? How can we make mental health care more accessible and culturally acceptable for youth and families of color? How can we bring participants IN to the research process to empower them and produce equitable science as we work towards collective healing and harm reduction?
