She/her/hers

Deeptha is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Chicago, where she investigates how neurons wire together to form circuits for body movement during development. She received her Ph.D. in Neurobiology from the University of Utah, where she studied spinal cord regeneration in zebrafish. Deeptha is passionate about mentoring the next generation of scientists, and strives to make science accessible to everyone through outreach programs at museums and schools. She is also a member of the community advisory board of Chicago's public radio station, where she serves as a liaison between the scientific community, radio content creators, and the general public. Outside of the lab, Deeptha enjoys hiking in national parks, biking along the lakefront, reading, and exploring Chicago.
