Ananya is a PhD candidate in Immunology and Molecular Pathogenesis Graduate Program at Emory University. Prior to starting her PhD, Ananya received her Integrated Master’s degree in Systems Biology at the University of Hyderabad. Ever since she started her research journey, she has been hooked to the world of microbes. Currently, she examines the host-pathogen interactions of Streptococcus pyogenes and hopes to understand how strep progresses into debilitating infections. She firmly believes in the wonder of science and that it exists beyond the realms of the lab. She loves to talk about exciting discoveries and be a role model for the younger generation by volunteering in classrooms and at science festivals! Her journey in science has been possible with the kindest and most wonderful mentors and at Project SHORT, she wishes to be the same to many more. Outside of the lab, you will find her wandering into the next bookstore in the city.
