Yiyang grew up in southern part of China, he did his undergrad in Biology at Nanjing University in China. He moved to Montreal in his undgrad senior year and did a research-master at McGill University under Dr. Heidi McBride’s supervision studying on mitochondrial dynamics supported by Québec Government Fonds de Recherche du Santé de Maîtrise Master Training Fellowship and Canada Mitacs Graduate Fellowship. He is now a Ph.D student at the Department of Oncological Sciences, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. ​
