Ricky Brathwaite is a PhD student at the University of Pennsylvania in the Cell and Molecular Biology (CAMB) program concentrating in Cancer Biology (CB). He previously received a BS in Neuroscience and Molecular Biology ‘17, as well as an MS in Biotechnology '18 from Brandeis University. During his time at Brandeis, Ricky was trained in scientific outreach and as a peer career counselor, which included honing his skills in cover letter, CV and essay writing, interview prep, job market analysis, and providing customized feedback for clients. His current scientific interest is understanding the complex dynamics by which cancer cells evade the body’s natural defenses such as the immune system.
Originally hailing from Boston, MA, Ricky can often be found at social events that support the Boston sports teams. When he isn’t cheering on the Patriots, he can be found mentoring local youth, playing basketball, exploring Philly, devouring ice cream, spending time with family and loved ones, watching movies, and In Da Club like 50 Cent.
