Molly Shmerling, Psy.D. is excited to be giving back to the psychology community by supporting the next generation of psychologists through their application process. During her undergraduate career, Molly knew little about the process of applying to graduate school and felt overwhelmed by the number of options available. She relied heavily on the guidance of her mentors made up of several psychology professors who were also practicing in the field. They empowered her to follow her interests and rely on her strengths to find a career path that aligned with her values. After graduation, Molly worked in a residential treatment center for individuals with eating disorders and enjoyed providing support to patients who felt isolated by their mental health. One year later, Molly decided to apply for graduate school and was accepted to the University of Denver’s Graduate School of Professional Psychology where she gravitate towards the emerging adult population. She spent her pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Denver’s Health & Counseling Center seeing undergraduate and graduate students for individual and group counseling. While working in this setting, Molly developed an interest in identity development and after completing her post-doctoral fellowship, joined a private practice that specializes in gender identity development. Molly also enjoys working with individuals struggling with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), interpersonal and relationship concerns, anxiety, depression, and eating disorders. When Molly is not working with clients, she enjoys hiking in the Colorado mountains with her dog, Bosley.
