Dr. Lakshmi S. Tummala is a cardiologist at Grady Memorial Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. She received her undergraduate and medical degrees from Northwestern University’s Honors Program in Medical Education and completed her internal medicine residency and chief residency at New York University. After her cardiovascular disease fellowship and chief fellowship at Georgetown University, she remained as faculty at the DC VA Medical Center for a few years before coming to Emory. Dr. Tummala’s clinical interest is in prevention, specifically cardiac obesity. She serves on the American College of Cardiology Practice Question Committee and is pursuing her Master of Education in the Health Professions. In addition, she is a strong advocate for women in medicine and writes for Women As One and the Women in Medicine Summit.
