Emily is a second year PhD student in the Neuroscience Graduate Program at UCSF. Originally from Minnesota, she studied Psychology and Neuroscience at Grinnell College in Iowa. Following her graduation, Emily spent two years conducting research at the University of Minnesota in the Departments of Psychology, Neurology, and Law. To pursue her interests in midbrain dopamine neurons and slice electrophysiology, Emily then spent two years as a Post-baccalaureate Research Fellow at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. At UCSF, she studies cellular and circuit dysfunction in mouse models of Parkinson’s disease using a combination of in vivo and ex vivo electrophysiology. Outside of lab, Emily is a tea enthusiast that also enjoys swimming, knitting, and listening to Les Misérables.
