Anna (she/her or they/them) is a current PhD student in the Molecular and Cell Biology program at UC Berkeley. She graduated from Smith College in 2017, and worked for a few years as a research technician at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute before starting her PhD. Her research interests surround gene regulation in all its strange forms. She’s studied ciliate and cancer genomes, and now explores the regulation of RNA splicing through a combination of experiments and mathematical models. Outside of science, Anna is an avid gardener, reader, and rock climber. Before beginning her PhD, she even took a few months away from the lab to work at a climbing gym. She’s recently gotten into both cross stitch and the crossword.
